Ways to Wear: The High-Low Sweater #1

One of our goals this year is to help our customers visualize more ways to wear the pieces we sell. We want them to appreciate the value of purchasing with Threads beyond just the philanthropic influence. While our pieces are not inexpensive, they are well made--handmade, even--and are designed with the intention of bringing a wardrobe to life while making it more functional.

By sourcing our fabrics from places as far flung as Togo and Bali, our designs thus far have been colorful and most of our fabrics have been printed. While Mom and I both love that aesthetic, this winter I felt the need to make something easy, something comfortable. I wanted to make what I wanted to wear on cold days!

This is how our most recent three-sweater mini collection came about. We created the high-low sweater, the cropped sweater, and the cardigan. Over the next nine days, I will show you three ways to wear each sweater--starting with this one, the high-low.

The shape of this sweater is one I've worn consistently for years now. It boasts an ever-so-slight swing and is forgiving of women with wider hips (me!). I tweaked the style a little by widening the collar and ballooning the sleeves so they can be worn at any length comfortably just by pushing up the elastic. The fabric is a polyester-rayon-spandex blend. This versatile 2x1 rib knit is medium weight, super soft and features about 50% four-way stretch for...wait for it...comfort and ease (see above).

Available in both dark gray (pictured) and dark navy, here I wore it layered over a chambray collared shirt and grey skinny jeans tucked into booties. The look feels both effortless and pulled together. This is the most straightforward way to style this sweater--wear it with jeans! But I am already working on the other two looks for it with the objective of showing you how versatile it can be! ($124)
