Meet Akram from Iran

Meet Akram, the newest member of our team. Akram was born in Isfahan, Iran and moved to the United States in early 2017. Akram and her two daughters were forced to leave Iran as refugees when they became Christians. They first were taken to Turkey before Akram continued on to the U.S. She now lives in Houston with her husband. Akram is learning to make the signature Threads by Nomad dolls as that part of our business continues to grow. Hayder is also teaching her how to sew so she can eventually assist him in making our garments. Akram also has experience working with leather. "I can make wallets, bracelets, belts, some clothing, and sandals. I took a class in Iran and then when I went to Turkey they make a lot of leather goods so I learned more."

Akram tells us that American people are really nice. "And I love my church. They are my brothers and sisters." Still, she misses Isfahan, Iranian food, and her family. She has one son who still lives in Iran, one daughter in Turkey, and another daughter and son-in-law in England.

If you would like to welcome Akram, please leave a comment on this blog post and we will be sure to share it with her!
